In recent years, the topic of police brutality has been a hot subject matter for the United States. Many movements spoke up against law enforcement violence in hopes to increase awareness and bring a stop to injustice acts. The Black Lives Matter movement developed through 2013 and 2014, with the Mike Brown case being a major factor to catapult the organization into full swing. As I deeply analyzed this topic over the past couple of months, I couldn’t help but notice the lack of exposure for female cases. Therefore, I will go in depth on cases where women suffer from police brutality and support my argument that those who abuse their power have no mercy for minorities.
